Unschooling and Disney

What does unschooling mean to me? Well it is freedom to teach my child what she is interested in at any given moment and not having to worry about "standard norm" of the public schools with testing to see what our children have learned. Averi can learn anything she wants whenever she wants. As long as she is having a good time she is learning something. This is where Disney comes into play for us. You see a lot of people think "Oh Disney isn't for learning" but they are wrong. Where we live has very little resources for us to truly have a good time and learn interesting things along the way. So we outsource to places like Disney World. Its something we enjoy as a family while teaching our daughter very important life lessons sometimes. It teaches us to be patient which is a very important lesson for children. Now that Averi is 7 she will stand in line and wait her turn because we started this lesson when she was very young. Unschooling is what you make of it. It's not some scary thing like people make it out to be. Just have fun with it and enjoy the time you have with your children because tomorrow is never promised and they look up to you, the parent, more than they look up to anyone else.
